[ Photography @ A-B Tech ]
When I first started going to A-B Tech back in 2000, Photography was one of only a handful of Art classes available. I never got the itch to take it until last August, and I’m glad I did. For sometime, there was talk it might have been the last traditional photography class held by the school. Perhaps a reflection on the times in this digital world. I was ecstatic to find out the class would survive, and I would get to take Photo 2 the following semester. I honestly have to say, that learning traditional photography was one of the most difficult and rewarding artistic experiences of my life. When you learn the process of taking a ‘good’ picture, developing the film, and printing it yourself until it’s perfect.. the end results are a magical display of artistry in which respect is so often misplaced. It would be a shame if this art form was ever lost on future generations of students to come.
These are just a few of my favorite samples from my album.

I’ve always liked the Rankin and Church Street shots. The latter has a timeless quality about it; reminiscent of Degas and a hint of Atget(though I may be projecting with the Atget reference– the reflections….It’s really more of a documentation of time).
